artograffi mixes the screen and the real world. That's what makes it fun, and it's why safety matters a bit more than in a typical app. Here's how to stay safe, and the tools you have.
1. While you're drawing
- Look up often. Watch for traffic, stairs, curbs, ledges, water, obstacles and other people.
- Never use artograffi while driving, cycling, or operating machinery.
- Hold your phone securely, especially when your arm is outstretched or you're near water or a height.
- Take breaks. If you feel dizzy, eye strain, nausea or discomfort, stop.
- Photosensitivity: some effects (neon, glow, flashing lights, camera filters) involve bright or changing light. If you have a history of seizures or photosensitive epilepsy, talk to a doctor before using AR features. You can turn on Reduce motion in Settings → Accessibility.
- AR uses a lot of processing power and your phone may get warm. If it gets hot, take a break and let it cool down.
2. Protect your location
- Every piece you save is tagged to where you saved it. Think twice before saving visible pieces at home, school or work.
- Use visibility settings ("Only me," specific people, close artograffers) for anything personal.
- Ghostograffer mode lets you post under an alias and hides your profile from people who aren't your artograffers.
- Vault items can be location-locked, time-limited and protected with a password or PIN.
- Photos and videos can show where you are. Check the background before you share.
3. Events and meeting people
- Community events and live sessions are organized by users, not by artograffi. We don't verify them.
- Meet in busy public places, in daylight when possible. Tell a friend where you're going and when you'll be back.
- Never go onto private property, closed areas or anywhere unsafe to reach a piece or an event.
- Trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, leave.
- Teens should only go to meetups with a parent or guardian's permission and never alone.
4. Messages and scams
- artograffi will never ask for your password, PIN or SMS verification code. Don't share them with anyone.
- Be careful with links, requests for money, gift cards or crypto, or anyone pushing you to move to another app quickly.
- Don't share private photos or personal details with people you don't know in real life.
- View-once media can still be photographed by another device. Only send what you'd be OK with others seeing.
5. Your safety tools
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| Block | Stops someone from contacting you or seeing your content |
| Mute | Hides someone's posts from your Feed and silences their notifications, without them knowing |
| Report | Sends a piece, message or profile to our team for review |
| Visibility | Controls who can see each piece, and can be changed any time |
| Ghostograffer mode | Post under an alias; strangers can't find or view your real profile |
| App lock | Requires your PIN or fingerprint/face to open the app |
| Notifications | Turn off categories or proximity alerts in Settings → Notifications |
6. For parents and guardians
- artograffi is for ages 13 and up (older in some countries).
- Talk with your teen about location sharing, keeping pieces private, and never meeting people alone.
- Help them set pieces to "Only me" or close artograffers, and turn on app lock.
- To ask us to delete a child's account, email contact@mechitall.com.
7. If someone is in danger
artograffi is not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number (911 in the U.S., 112 in the EU).
If you see content that sexually exploits a child, report it in the app and to NCMEC's CyberTipline (report.cybertip.org) or your local police. Don't download or share it.
For anything else that worries you, report it in the app or email contact@mechitall.com.
